How To Submit a Quick Guide

This page tells you what information we want to collect, and along with any pictures you want to send, how to email it into us for inclusion.

So what do we need from you:

General description

Start the page with a general description of the location, keep it crisp and to what you and the photographer want to know, or find most useful.

Photographs

We like to include photographs where we can within any of the guides as this gives a visual idea of what can be seen and photographed when we get there.

Photographs should be submitted as jpg 640 x 480 at 72dpi images (this is good enough quality for website use). Please only send in 1 or 2 for the Quick Guides.

The Grid

This small grid gives basic information on the location and includes links to website and contact information as well as links to other useful information available over the internet. This format allows the user to be able to find out about the location prior to their visit, and gives them enough information to get there. It has been formatted so that they can print it out to take with them. We realise that some of this information you either won't know or know how to work out so do your best and we will try to complete any missing information. When you submit it you can do so either as a table within your email or as a list and we will format it.

Location: Place name and nearest place

Ceremonial County: Leave this blank
Grid Reference: This is the 8 digit grid reference off of OS maps, or Multimap will give it to you if you key in the name of the place. If you know it, also give an OS Map number, remember to include the series i.e. Landranger, Explorer etc. Map Link: Use Multimap or Google Maps for this. Or leave blank and we will work it out when we put the page together. You can have more than one map link. See our Map links in the reference section. Aerial photo: Google Maps, Multimap and Microsoft Live Map allows the possibility of  linking to a satellite or aerial photo of the location. Put the links in here or leave blank and we will work it out when we put the page together.

Getting there: Directions on how to find it. Not only the driving directions, but also details of any footpaths or obstacles which have to be overcome.

Website: Website address of the location, if it has one.
Address: Full address of the location, if it has one, that can be used to contact for further information or help.
Postcode: If it has a contact address and has one, this can be useful for entering into Sat Navs. Telephone: The phone number of the main contact, if it has one, where again more information and details can be obtained.
Opening Times: If restricted public access then these times are, useful for planning when and at what time to visit.

Charges: Include here, admission charges, any boat crossing expenses as well as car parking charges etc if any.

Nearby Locations: List website links for other nearby locations that are also worth considering visiting whilst in the area.
Other Location Pages: List other location guides that are in the same area as this location.

Notes: Any other information you know that isn't covered in the above grid slots.
