Bedd Morris - Newport,  Pembroke

Bedd-Morris Standing Stone. A standing stone, measuring 2m high, is a well-known landmark on the mountain road between Newport and the Gwaun Valley. It probably dates from 2000-1500 BC and appears to have been erected as a marker-stone, indicating the junction of two ancient trackways across the Preseli Hills.

The name comes from a local tradition that the stone marks the grave (bedd) of a robber named Morris who preyed on travellers crossing the hills.
